Mark your calendars for our 3rd annual Halloween Open House on October 31st, from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the home of the Satiras. Drop in to have a bite of mac and cheese and an adult beverage as you make your trick or treating rounds or sit for a while and hand out candy to the little ghosts, goblins, and ghouls. Favorite mac and cheese recipes as well as fall desserts are welcome – email Jessie Steadman if you know what you’re bringing, if you want suggestions, or if you need the address. We can’t wait to see all those creative costumes!
Resurrection Sheepshead Bay hosted its first Summer Enrichment Camp for two weeks in August. After a 3 day trial run last summer, Resurrection Sheepshead Bay, in partnership with StoneBridge Church Community, was able to offer a camp to their community designed to provide a safe, affordable and engaging place for kids to spend their summer days learning and playing. Approximately 20 kids each week were able to participate in Reader’s Theater, Math Skills Drills, Science, Music, Art, and Sports. From shooting vinegar propelled rockets into the sky to shaving cream whiffle ball to creating their own Dali melting clock sculptures, kids were able to learn through fun, hands on lessons taught by loving, creative adults and teens. Next year, we are hoping to offer this camp to 50 kids each week for 4 consecutive weeks – stay tuned. Check out the pictures of some of our most fun moments below, too!
We are in need of volunteers to host small groups (you tell us what you can handle) from our Stonebridge Community Church Missions Team on the evenings of July 24th and July 31st. Our teams always report that this is one of the highlights from their annual trip to Brooklyn, so be sure to get in on the fun! If you can help, email Pastor Brian.
