Last week, The Wall Street Journal ran an article highlighting the need for preventative services like those provided by Safe Families. Read the article here and learn how you can be a part of this very important ministry of our church (and many other churches across New York City!) by clicking here.
Safe Families for Children creates extended family-like support for families in crisis through a community of compassionate volunteers. We keep children safe and families intact.
We organize vetted and trained volunteers from local churches to offer a broad community of support for families who feel overwhelmed or isolated. Our volunteers seek to empower, encourage, and strengthen families through mutually beneficial relationships. We seek to reduce foster care numbers by supporting families as we know that stress and isolation can lead to abuse and neglect.
There are a variety of volunteer roles to come alongside families. The roles are flexible and volunteers can offer support according to their skills, interests, and availability. If you have an interest please contact Laura Galt. You can also visit the website at newyorkcity.safe-families.org to learn more about the three key volunteer roles.
