“Christians are those who unceasingly ask critical questions of the society in which we live, and who continually stress the need for conversion, not only of the individual but also of the world. Christians refuse to allow ourselves or anyone else to settle into a comfortable rest. We remain dissatisfied with the status quo. And we believe that we have an essential role to play in the realization of the new world to come – even if we cannot say how that new world will come about. Christians keep saying to everyone we meet that the good news of the Kingdom has to be proclaimed to the whole world and witnessed to all nations (Matthew 24:13).” -Henri Nouwen
The God of the Bible—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—is a missionary God; and the story of salvation is a story about God’s mission to bring salvation to the world. At Resurrection Sheepshead Bay we believe that we have a part to play in this mission as we respond to God’s great love for us and seek to share that love not only with our neighbors in Brooklyn but also the whole world. Below you will find information on our global partners.
Ethiopia ACT Project
Located in Addis Ababa, the capitol of Ethiopia, the AIDS Care & Treatment Project provides physical, emotional and spiritual care to individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS. In recent years, its work has expanded to include those affected by tuberculosis.
Our network of churches has been a partner of the ACT Project for a number of years. Along with Abbot Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, MD, we send a team of medical and mental health professionals to work alongside the ACT Project for two weeks each February. If you’re interested in the ACT Project and the various ways you or your community group can partner with it, please contact Pastor Brian. You can also read more about the project here.
