Ethiopia ACT Project Update

May 4, 2016 By Brian Steadman

The Ethiopia ACT Project is a mission that Resurrection Brooklyn Church Network supports through prayer, giving, and sending annual medical teams. Below you will find their latest project update.

What’s New?

We are drawing near to the close of a three-year cycle with the ACT Project. This is not the end of, or even a drastic change in, the project, but a time when our agreements with the Ethiopian government and major donors must be evaluated and renewed.  It is a time when we look back over the last three years and assess how we have done, what made real impact and what needs to be revised. It is also a time when we look forward and begin planning what we need to do and accomplish over the next three years.

What are some of the highlights? One of the best is the number of families that have become self-supporting. We have “graduated” more than 700 families from the project and they are now able to provide for all of their basic needs; rent, food, school fees and more. We have also started a program to stay in touch with these families so that they can continue helping each other and we are able to keep supporting them emotionally and spiritually.

There have been some less than hoped for outcomes. We worked hard to bring clean water to our Suki community and hundreds of families now have a closer and more reliable source of water. But we struggle with how to make sure the water they drink is safe and clean. More work to do in this area.

Over the next three months, between the time our current project agreement ends and a new one is approved, all of our project activities will keep going. Our challenge is funding in this interim period.  If you are able to help us with a donation now it would be a real help to the project, our beneficiaries and also a real encouragement to our team.

Church Plant

Our first church plant is up and going and has been meeting every Sunday for the last year. It continues to grow and mature. Our youth program is another part of our spiritual ministry that has grown tremendously. Our youth soccer teams are growing and winning games. We are so thankful for the lives that God is touching through our church plant.

Prayer Requests

1. Approval of ACT’s new project agreement with the Ethiopian government.

2. Ethiopia – there is a drought that is threatening thousands with hunger.

3. Our team – for continued shared vision and unity and for God’s protection for them and their families.
