All churches in the Resurrection Brooklyn network are participating in a ministry called Safe Families for Children that reaches out to children and their parents in our community who are in crisis due to situations like homelessness, domestic violence, job loss or illness. Safe Families for Children is an alternative to foster care that through the involvement and resources of the local church, both human and financial, enables families to remain intact and to thrive. Safe Families for Children has not previously had a presence in NYC and we are excited to be a part of its startup! There are many ways to be involved in this ministry. We are seeking both individuals and families that have an interest in coming alongside families in crisis, reaching out to at-risk youth and kids, or participating in the type of biblical hospitality that opens our homes to those who are suffering in this way. You can also visit the website at http://www.safe-families.org to learn more about the 3 key volunteer roles. If you are interested in the next training day or in becoming a host family, email Laura Galt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
